RBI Holds the Repo Rate at 5.25%: What Your Home Loan EMI Does Next

26 June 20263 min read

At its June 2026 meeting, the RBI's Monetary Policy Committee kept the repo rate at 5.25%, and it held again in August 2026. Most floating-rate bank home loans are linked to this rate, so your EMI is unlikely to jump in the near term.

If your loan is on a floating rate, a steady repo rate means a steady EMI. If you are planning a new loan, this is a calm time to lock in your budget without worrying about a sudden rise.

One tip. Even a small drop in your interest rate saves a lot over 20 years. It is worth comparing offers from a few banks before you sign.
